Abraham heard
First Ishmael
Then Isaac.
Abraham hears
And is lead to slaughter
God accommodates and permits
Ruptures history. Present,
The word resonates,
Slaughter is not the way.
Hearing the word,
Acting on the word.
A tension woven into creation.
Prayer is the weft and the woof
Held in inexpressible love.
Made present.
We the icon drawn
From slaughter to glory
From glory to glory
Made one with the One
We know him because
We are like him.
The mystery is,
We are called to hear
And to act, dimly seeing.
To ask.
God longs that we
Become one,
With Abraham stand,
Obey the voice.
Follow him because
You know his voice.
