Open Scripture

The opening of scripture to us is spiritual.

It is the Father and the Son working within through the Spirit.

We can devise all manner of schemes to know the meaning

but only true insight is gained through the Spirit

and this is where we must be lead.

It is right that we have sound doctrine

and the message is declared

but its power is in our whisper of contrition,

the cry of a broken heart.

This may start in the whirlwind and the storm.

We might feel the flames of the consuming fire,

but it is God’s love that saves us,

in the sanctuary of our hearts.

It is from here we know the prayer to forgive as we have been forgiven.

It is here we discover the wells of living water flowing for all the world’s redemption.
