What is prayer?
The longing of a heart caught up
In the Father’s embrace,
Lifting up his name.
Desire to see the Creator’s purpose worked out;
Walking once more with God
In the cool of creation.
Passion for heaven’s rule
In the Earth.
Heart brimming over longing
For blamelessness.
Sorrow at what has been done,
Sorrow for wilful indifference.
What is prayer?
Words of desire; asking for good.
Pleading for wholeness;
Sharing in the mind of God.
Ardour that persists in asking,
Giving birth to the fullness of God;
Asking bringing comfort, raising hope.
Not to persuade but to grow
To a state of being, at one with the One who
Is wise.
Authority comes in seeking,
Heaven’s glory breaks through. In asking
The eyes of the blind open and the lame walk;
There are no more tears.
On that day we will not need to ask, but now we
Ask.
Finding rest in trusting
No need to fret
Every tear is treasure
Made perfect
In the embrace of
The Father.
Seek Him alone who is good.
